Job Role & Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and empathetic Clinical Interviewer to join our team!

As a Clinical Interviewer, you will play a vital role in conducting comprehensive interviews with individuals seeking mental health services. Your main objective will be to gather accurate and relevant information from clients to assist in the diagnostic and treatment planning process. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of mental health disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct structured clinical interviews with clients to obtain detailed information about their psychological and emotional well-being.
  • Utilize appropriate interviewing techniques and tools to assess symptoms, diagnostic criteria, treatment history, and relevant psychosocial factors.
  • Establish rapport and maintain a supportive and non-judgmental environment during interviews to encourage clients to share personal information.
  • Gather and document accurate and comprehensive data regarding clients’ mental health concerns, including symptoms, duration, intensity, and functional impairment.
  • Assess clients’ current level of distress, suicidality, or potential harm to self or others and ensure appropriate referral or intervention when necessary.
  • Collaborate with other members of the clinical team, such as psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers, to ensure comprehensive assessment and treatment planning.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines and legal requirements related to privacy and information security.
  • Stay up to date with current research, diagnostic criteria, and best practices in the field of mental health assessment.
  • Provide support and education to clients regarding available treatment options, community resources, and self-care strategies.
  • Participate in regular case conferences and team meetings to discuss client progress, treatment plans, and collaborate on improving assessment processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in psychology, counselling, social work, or a related field.
  • Previous experience conducting clinical interviews and assessments in a mental health or healthcare setting is highly desirable.
  • Solid knowledge of various diagnostic criteria, such as the DSM-5, and familiarity with different mental health disorders.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport quickly and maintain a non-judgmental and empathetic approach.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to accurately document client information.
  • Knowledge of ethical guidelines and legal requirements related to confidentiality and privacy.
  • Proficient computer skills, including the use of electronic medical records or assessment software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Compassion, empathy, and a genuine desire to help individuals seeking mental health support.

We serve children and adolescents who experience behavioral health difficulties in a variety of settings. DTAC’s Mission is to serve children, adolescents, and their families in a stable and safe environment where one’s potential, personal strengths and relationships are the basis for lifelong change and self-sufficiency.

DTAC’s Extended Evaluation Services provide accurate and timely clinical profiles of children and adolescents and their families in their natural setting in a significantly less intrusive and restrictive process. Extended Evaluations are highly intensive in nature and require multiple sessions completed over a span of several week.

Ideal Candidates are Advanced Practice Professionals/Mental Health Professionals/mental health workers with a minimum of five years’ experience in child and adolescent behavioral health care. They have extensive training and experience in working with children and adolescents who have been prematurely sexualized and/or exhibit significant acting out behaviors and emotional disturbance. The clinical interviewer(s) have certification in treatment with youth who exhibit problem sexual behaviors and their families and additionally have been trained by the LCSW in motivational interviewing techniques.

You must be at least 21 years old. Ability to obtain Act 33 clearances, Criminal History and FBI Act 73 clearances. A valid driver’s license is required. Ability to pass Safe Crisis Management is also required.
